A 1 kanal plot is 4,500 sq ft in DHA, Bahria Town and most planned Lahore societies, which count a marla as 225 sq ft (commonly a 50 × 90 ft plot). On the traditional 272.25 sq ft marla, used in older areas and land records, it is 5,445 sq ft. Check your allotment letter or site plan for the exact figure, or use the marla to square feet converter.
With this much width, the plan can give the lawn to the main rooms rather than to the driveway: a drawing room and dining that open to the front or side lawn, a family lounge at the centre, and a kitchen with a separate service entrance. A kanal house usually carries five or more bedrooms across two floors, and often a basement for a home theatre, gym or guest suite. Servant quarters, a powder room for guests and a proper entrance lobby are expected at this size and need to be planned in from the start.
The front elevation matters more here because there is more of it. We design the facade with the plan, not after it, so the double-height volumes and balconies you see outside are real spaces inside.
